(3) Riding comfort of traveling train

The riding comfort of daytime limited express DRC Sprinter considering the track matters is described below. As the result of riding the Sprinter over the whole Northern Line, the maximum speed is 120 km/h and the riding condition is surveyed from the head driver's deck over approx. 1/3 the whole permanent-way length. The followings are only a sample of two trainsets one time each, it is shown for rough reference.

(a) Horizontal movement

1/ The horizontal movement is very slight over the whole line.

The horizontal car body movement with tend to repeat a little right and left caused by contacts of wheel flange and rail does not occur except some of sharp curves with a radius 200 or less.

2/ Repetition of some zigzag horizontal movement of a car occurred on a very few curves among those with a radius of 180 to 200 m. It is considered that this movement of a car occurs on a curve with a radius of 200 m or less when a excellent level after adjustment is lowered.

(b) Vertical movement

1/ Vertical movement is generally small over the whole line and support of a track is felt as a continuous stable condition.

2/ Though exceptional, simple vertical movement occurs in the following portions.

- Border portions between general track and special track (Bridge, level crossing, turnout)

- Joint between 18 m rails in mountainous area

(There is locally a trend of resonance in a running of approx. 70 to 80 km/h)
